ICF Maktab offers classes in Irvington Masjid and Masjid Zakariya for boys and girls. The Maktab program is to teach kids how to recite the Holy Quran correctly with proper Tajweed and gain fluency in recitation.
Classes are 1 hour and 15 minutes daily, four days a week, Monday through Thursday. The focus of the first 40 minutes of class is on the recitation of the Holy Quran, and the direction of the last 30 minutes is on basic Islamic teachings such as wudhu, prayer, duas, fiqh, seerah, and more. Along with actual instruction, Maktab teachers engage and motivate the students to build positive relationships with the masjid, community, and Islam.
ICF also offers After-School Hifz/Part-time Hifz for students who have completed the Quran at least once and are interested in memorizing portions of the Quran. In addition to that, this class is a prerequisite for students trying to enroll in Full-Time Hifz. An evaluation test by Mufti Shadman Ahmed is required for this class. Overview:
- Tajweed Rules: Learn and apply advanced Tajweed in Quran recitation.
- Fluency: Recite 5-7 pages daily with precise Tajweed.
- Memorization: Use techniques to memorize the Quran, starting with the 30th Juz and other sections for Hifz preparation.
